Gaming/Fight Club: 12 Days of Greenwood
| While I know Lenny hates the Forgotten Realms for various reasons I know there are others who like it. Me, I'm a fan of the old school, 1st Ed setting only. Anywho... this dude, J. Robert King has put together 12 blog entries from an interview that he did with Ed Greenwood and he's been posting them day at a time. If nothing else, Greenwood serves as an example of how a writer who has enough passion for his hobby can make a living at it. Elminster would be proud. |  [D20: Dungeons and Dragons] |

I am an enemy of the FR mostly because it began the end for Greyhawk. And by existing it has earned my ever burning enmity. Pox on FR I say. Bunch of high magic fantasy trash.
But Ed seems pretty cool. Good series of posts (though it really wasn't that long and should have been just one article).
Can you hate the creation but love the creator?

I agree, it should have been one article. Seems silly to hand it out in small bits like this. Unless he's trying to up his page hit every day - then it's not a bad idea.
I'd say you can hate the creation but love the creator. Heck, I think it's possible to do it the other way around as well.
I'd put your hate on TSR though - it wasn't Ed and the Realms that caused the death of Greyhawk. It was TSR abandoning it.

It says right in the articles that he (Ed) purposely caused the death of Greyhawk because he like high magic fantasy worlds over grittier worlds with complicated politics. Page 7 or somewhere there. ... and I quote "FR is a 1000 times better than GH and if TSR wants to use my world they have to destroy the other one"

In the original Realms source things weren't as crazy as they ended up. TSR took it way too far with much of what they did which is why I only like the 1st ed source for it.
